Jumbo Tennis 7’s

Jumbo Tennis 7’s – coming to Saxton Stadium (indoors)!

Jumbo Tennis is a fun tournament playing Tennis with over-sized racquets, ordinary Tennis balls, to table tennis rules, for 7 minutes a game.
Come in your team uniform as you would to the Rugby 7’s.
And enjoy the event.

Download the Jumbo Tennis Flyer for information about the event.

WHAT IS JUMBO TENNIS?:
Jumbo Tennis is a fundraising event, run by our Rotary Club to provide funding to Community Organisations.  This year we are involving the St John Volunteers as well as our Rotary International Foundation, and club activities.
Entry gives you four paid, fed, and hydrated players who make up two doubles teams.  You can bring other players and spectators who will pay for food and drink.
Games are scheduled to start at 3 p.m., on the five netball courts inside Saxton Stadium.  Each game lasts for 7 minutes, with golden point if necessary.  The Round Robin gives plenty of games.  We will then have a time for any grudge matches before we progress into the Quarter, Semi and Plate and Cup Finals.  The evening should finish up with prizegiving around 7:30 p.m.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?:
The cost is $250 for two players and includes refreshments and food.

HOW TO ENTER:
Email [email protected] with your interest – you will be contacted to provide billing email, name of team(s), etc.

WHAT IF WE CAN’T GET TWO PLAYERS?:
No problem, $125 for one player and we will pair you up with someone else.

SPECTATORS:
Spectators, or indeed reserve players, are very welcome, but for catering, we will need to know how many approximately you will have along to support your team.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:
We are looking for sponsors of all aspects of the event.
If you could supply us with some ‘goodies’ to go into the players bags, or prizes for a team, or a raffle prize, that would be magnificent.
Also, sponsors for advertising, signwriting, food, drink, prizes, etc etc are needed.  The more that we can get supplied the better.
We thank the following sponsors for their support: BOWATER HONDA

Knapps Boulder Bank Walk – 10 March 2019

The 10th Annual Boulder Bank Walk is on 10 March 2019

Nelson's Boulder Bank and lighthouse

Nelson’s Boulder Bank and lighthouse

This year we celebrate the 10th anniversary of this iconic Nelson outing.

This is a great event for the family – although very young ones would need to be carried. We take you from Wakefield Quay by bus to the end of Boulder Bank Drive, you walk the 9 km back to the Cut, and we bring you back by boat. Along the way you can go by the baches (owners have been known to offer you a cuppa and give you a peek inside), go up to the top of the lighthouse, listen to speakers on the history of ‘the Bank’ and see Nelson from a different perspective. We also have a barbecue going at the lighthouse so you don’t get too hungry–be sure to bring some cash to buy something to eat.

The walk is sponsored once again by Knapps Lawyers and TSB Bank, Nelson.

Buses depart from Guyton’s carpark on Wakefield Quay at 8:15, 9:00 and 9:45 am. The “boat-both-ways” option is available at 10:45 and 11:15. Some tickets will likely be available on the day, but best to get tickets in advance to get the departure time you want. In any case, please arrive at least 10 minutes prior, and allow extra time if parking your car (Guyton’s carpark is P120, so not suitable).

Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children (14&under). Tickets for Boat-Both-Ways option are $30 and $18. Our ticket sellers are

Knapps Lawyers, Richmond (not open Saturdays)
TSB Bank, Trafalgar St, Nelson
Stoke Garden & Landscapes, Saxton Road

If you don’t get to our ticket outlets, we usually have some tickets available on the day. Be sure to bring sunscreen, a parka, sturdy shoes, water bottle and a hat.

In the event of bad weather, the postponement date is 17 March. Refunds will be available for ticketholders who cannot attend on that date.
